Bridge cost: India vs USA, unit by unit
Bridges are priced per unit: a standard 3-unit bridge replacing one missing tooth means a crown on each neighbouring tooth plus the false tooth (pontic) between them. Every extra unit scales the price linearly — which makes quotes easy to compare once you know the per-unit figure, and easy to inflate when a clinic quotes only a vague total.
Every rupee figure on this page is an indicative cost at our Vaishali, Ghaziabad clinic — international patients pay the same clinical prices as local patients, with travel and stay itemised separately. Your final quote is confirmed only after Dr. Bandhavi reviews your records and X-rays.
Will US dental insurance help?
Only partially. Most US dental PPO plans cap annual benefits at $1,000–$2,000 total, classify bridges as “major” restorative work, and pay 50% coinsurance after a deductible — often with a 6–12 month waiting period for major services on a new plan. On a $3,500 bridge that might mean $1,000–$1,750 out of pocket even with decent coverage, which narrows but does not close the gap to India’s ₹24,000 (≈$290) zirconia price. The material and lab standards are the same story as every treatment we compare: zirconia blocks and pressed ceramics come from the same international manufacturers whether the lab sits in Chicago or Delhi-NCR. What a bridge trip from the USA actually costs
Bridge or implant — the question to settle first
Dental bridge
- ₹15,000–₹24,000 for 3 units
- Two visits, 4–6 days — fastest fixed option
- Neighbouring teeth must be crowned to carry it
- Typically lasts 10–15 years
Dental implant
- ₹30,000 per tooth, crown included
- Leaves neighbouring teeth untouched
- Needs healing time — usually two trips
- Can last decades with good care
If the teeth either side of your gap already need crowns, a bridge does two jobs at once and is the pragmatic choice. If they are healthy and untouched, grinding them down to carry a bridge has a real biological cost, and an implant deserves serious consideration — our bridge vs implant comparison walks through the decision properly. Send your X-ray and Dr. Bandhavi will tell you which your case actually favours, not which is easier to sell.
How the two visits work
Visit one: the supporting teeth are shaped, a digital or conventional impression is taken, and you leave with a temporary bridge the same day. The lab then needs three to five working days. Visit two: the temporary comes off, the final bridge is tried in, adjusted for bite and cemented. Between visits you eat carefully on the other side and see Delhi — the temporary is functional, not fragile. A 4–6 day trip covers it comfortably; there is no medical reason to stay longer.
A recent panoramic X-ray from your US dentist lets us confirm the plan and quote before you book flights. Dr. Bandhavi, MDS (Endodontics), is registered with the Delhi Dental Council (Reg. A-15692) — check any clinic you compare the same way.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a dental bridge cost in India compared with the USA?
A 3-unit bridge costs Rs 15,000 in metal-ceramic or Rs 24,000 in zirconia in Delhi-NCR – about $180-$290 – against $2,000-$5,000 privately in the USA. Prices scale per unit for longer bridges. These are indicative figures, confirmed after examination and X-rays.
How many days do I need in India for a bridge?
Four to six days. The supporting teeth are prepared and a temporary fitted on day one, the lab needs three to five working days, and the final bridge is cemented at the second visit. One trip covers everything.
Will my US dental insurance cover any of this?
Partially at best. Most PPO plans cap annual benefits at $1,000-$2,000 and pay 50% coinsurance on major work like bridges after a deductible and possible waiting period. Check your plan’s annual maximum and major-services clause before assuming coverage closes the gap.
Should I get a bridge or an implant?
If the teeth beside the gap already need crowns, a bridge is efficient – it restores three teeth in one piece of work. If they are healthy, an implant (Rs 30,000 per tooth including the crown) avoids cutting them down and usually lasts longer. The right answer comes from your X-ray, not from a price list.
How long does a dental bridge last?
Ten to fifteen years is typical, and the failure point is usually decay at the margins of the supporting crowns rather than the bridge itself – which is why cleaning under the pontic with floss threaders or an interdental brush matters more than anything else you do.
What if something goes wrong after I fly back to the USA?
A loose or chipped bridge can be recemented or repaired by any US dentist, and we share your full records – materials, shades and lab specifications – so they are never working blind. Genuine early failures are rare and covered by our remake policy; ask for the terms in writing with your quote, as you should at any clinic.
