Braces Cost in India (2026): Metal, Ceramic, Self-Ligating and Lingual

Braces cost in India 2026 - metal, ceramic and clear aligners compared, Delhi-NCR indicative prices - Tooth Simplified

How much do braces cost in India?

Short answer: A full course of braces costs Rs 50,000 to Rs 1,00,000 in India, depending on the type: metal Rs 50,000–65,000, ceramic Rs 65,000–80,000, self-ligating Rs 75,000–90,000 and lingual Rs 90,000–1,00,000. That is the whole treatment — every adjustment visit over 18 to 24 months — not a per-visit fee.

Metal or ceramic: what you gain and give up

Metal brackets are smaller, stronger and cheapest, and they will not stain. Ceramic brackets blend with the tooth and are far less noticeable in photographs, but they are bulkier, more brittle, and the elastic ties around them pick up colour from curry, coffee and turmeric between visits — the brackets themselves do not stain, the ties do, and they are changed at each appointment. Self-ligating brackets need no ties at all, which is part of why they often finish faster.

What the price does and does not include

A full-course quote covers bonding, all adjustment visits and debonding. Ask specifically about three things: the initial X-rays and records, the retainers afterwards, and the replacement cost if a bracket comes off on a popcorn kernel. Retainers are not optional — teeth drift back within months without them. If invisibility matters more than cost, compare clear aligners vs braces.

TL;DR

A full course of braces runs from about ₹50,000 to ₹1,00,000 in Delhi-NCR depending on the type — metal at the lower end, lingual (behind the teeth) at the top. Clear aligners sit separately, from about ₹1,50,000. What actually moves your price is not the brand on the bracket — it is how much your teeth have to move, how long you wear the appliance, and whether extractions or anchorage screws are needed.

Braces cost in India by type

The table below covers what patients typically pay at our Vaishali, Ghaziabad clinic and across Delhi-NCR. Prices are for a full course — both arches, all adjustment visits and the first set of retainers included — not a per-visit fee. Beware of any quote that only prices the fitting appointment and bills adjustments separately; that is how a “cheap” brace quietly becomes an expensive one.

These are indicative figures, not a quote

Every figure on this page is an indicative cost for patients treated at our Vaishali, Ghaziabad clinic. Your final cost is confirmed only after Dr. Bandhavi examines you and reviews your X-rays — the number of teeth involved, the condition of the supporting bone and gums, and the material you choose all move the price.

What actually drives the price up

Two people can walk into the same clinic with the same metal braces and pay very different totals. The variables that matter are the ones nobody mentions in an advert: whether you need extractions to create space, whether temporary anchorage devices (small screws) are needed to control movement, how many months you will be in treatment, and whether your bite — not just the front teeth — has to be corrected. A twelve-month cosmetic alignment and a twenty-eight-month full bite correction are different pieces of work, even with identical brackets.

The second cost that gets left out of comparison shopping is retention. Teeth drift back for the rest of your life if nothing holds them, so retainers are part of the treatment, not an optional extra. Ask whether your quote includes the first set of retainers and what a replacement costs — it is a small number that becomes a large one if you lose them twice.

Braces or clear aligners — the honest comparison

Braces (metal or ceramic)

  • Lower cost — ₹50,000 to ₹1,00,000
  • Handles severe crowding, rotations and bite correction
  • Fixed on, so results do not depend on your discipline
  • Visible, and needs care with hard or sticky food
Widest case range

Clear aligners

  • Higher cost — from ₹1,50,000
  • Best for mild to moderate crowding and spacing
  • Removable for eating, brushing and photographs
  • Only works if worn 20–22 hours a day, every day

For a straightforward alignment either route can work and the choice is mostly about visibility versus budget. For a genuine bite problem — a deep bite, a crossbite, significant rotations — fixed braces are still the more predictable tool, and no amount of extra spend on aligners changes that. An orthodontic assessment tells you which category you are in within one visit.

If clear aligners are the route you are leaning towards, our detailed guide to the Invisalign cost in India breaks the figure down tray by tray and explains what a complete quote should include.

A realistic total for a two-year metal brace case

Metal braces, both arches — 20 months (Delhi-NCR)
Records: X-rays, photographs and study models₹3,000
Bonding both arches (metal braces)₹50,000
Monthly adjustment visits (20)Included
Debonding and polishingIncluded
First set of retainers₹6,000
Indicative all-in total≈ ₹59,000
Extractions, anchorage screws or a longer treatment time will move this figure. It is shown as a worked example so you can see what a complete quote should look like — not as a fixed price.

How to compare two braces quotes properly

Ask every clinic the same four questions and the cheap quote usually stops being the cheap quote. One: does the price include every adjustment visit for the whole treatment, or is it billed monthly? Two: are retainers included? Three: who is doing the treatment? Four: what happens, and what does it cost, if a bracket comes off? Get those four answers in writing and comparing clinics becomes straightforward.

Frequently asked questions

How much do braces cost in India?

A full course of braces costs about ₹50,000 to ₹1,00,000 in Delhi-NCR: metal braces at the lower end, ceramic and self-ligating in the middle, and lingual braces at the top. Clear aligners are priced separately, from about ₹1,50,000. These are indicative figures — your final cost depends on case complexity and treatment length, confirmed after an examination.

Why are ceramic braces more expensive than metal ones?

The brackets themselves cost more to manufacture and are more fragile, so they take longer to bond and are more likely to need replacing during treatment. You are paying for the low visibility, not for a better clinical result — metal and ceramic move teeth the same way.

Can I pay for braces in instalments?

Most orthodontic treatment in Delhi-NCR is paid in stages across the treatment, and many clinics including ours can structure payments around the monthly visits. Ask about the schedule at your assessment so it is agreed in writing before treatment starts.

How long will I need to wear braces?

Most full cases run 18–24 months. Simple alignment of the front teeth can finish in 9–12 months; a complex bite correction with extractions can run past 30 months. Your X-rays and an orthodontic assessment give you a realistic range.

Are cheap braces worth it?

A low headline price is only meaningful if it includes every adjustment visit, the debonding and the retainers. A quote that covers only the fitting appointment often ends up costing more than a higher all-inclusive quote once twenty monthly visits are billed separately.

Do I need to see an orthodontist or is a general dentist enough?

Straightforward alignment can be handled by an experienced general dentist working with an orthodontist; genuine bite correction should be planned by someone with orthodontic training. Ask who will be planning and reviewing your case before you start.
