New Zealand has some of the highest dental costs in the Asia-Pacific region, and implants are not publicly subsidised for adults. That gap is why a steady stream of Kiwi patients now combine dental treatment in India with a holiday, rather than paying full price at home. Here is the 2026 cost picture.
Dr. Bandhavi’s complete dental implant guide covers candidacy, bone grafting, the surgery step by step, healing, home care, honest rupee pricing and what to do when things go wrong. Read the complete dental implants guide.
Dental implant cost: India vs New Zealand
*All-on-4 pricing is less commonly published in New Zealand than single-implant pricing; this range is estimated from comparable full-arch (All-on-6) quotes and should be confirmed directly with a New Zealand clinic. Indicative 2026 ranges — a final quote depends on your scans and the materials chosen.
What is included in the price
A complete implant quote in India covers the titanium implant, the abutment, the CBCT scan and a zirconia crown. New Zealand quotes typically cover the implant and crown together too, but bone grafting, sinus lifts and sedation are usually billed as add-ons in both countries — confirm these line items before comparing two quotes directly.
Match the implant brand, the crown material, and whether the CBCT scan and any extraction are included before comparing an India quote against a New Zealand one. Clinics in Auckland tend to be the most expensive in NZ, Christchurch the least.
Why the price gap is so large
The implant systems used in leading Indian clinics — Nobel Biocare, Straumann and comparable brands — are the same ones used in New Zealand. The price difference comes from clinic overheads, lab costs and staff salaries, not from a different product.
An implant needs 3–6 months to fuse with the bone before the final crown goes on. Most patients get a temporary tooth on the first trip, fly home, and return for the permanent crown — plan for two trips.

Frequently asked questions
Is it worth flying from New Zealand to India for one implant?
For a single implant, most NZ patients still save well over half the cost even after return flights and a hotel stay. The saving becomes larger the more teeth are treated in the same trip.
Are the implant brands used in India the same as in New Zealand?
Reputable Indian clinics use globally recognised systems — Nobel Biocare, Straumann and similar — with the same certification used in New Zealand clinics. Ask for the brand and batch number in writing.
How long does a dental implant trip to India take?
Usually two trips: implant placement (5–7 nights) and, after 3–6 months of healing, a shorter return trip for the permanent crown.
Does New Zealand’s public health system cover adult dental implants?
No, adult dental care including implants is not publicly funded in New Zealand outside limited emergency situations, which is why most patients compare private, out-of-pocket pricing as in this guide.
